Mission and Work

Mission

We assist combat wounded, critically ill & catastrophically injured service members of all branches of the us armed forces & their families through family support, transition & wellness programs. We have provided $177 million in assistance to 21,000 service members.

Program 1

$21.7m annual program spend • Service member and family support program -this program provides direct financial assistance for emergency and longer-term support where needed, helping to cover daily living costs so the service member and the family can focus on recovery rather than on financial burdens. Longer-term support includes critical items such as service dogs, adaptive homes, adaptive cars and specialized wheelchairs. The program also encompasses emotional support, including assistance for spouses, caregivers and children to aid in addressing the stress the families bear. In fiscal year 2018, the semper fi fund provided service member and family support grants to 4,900 service members and their families.

Transition Program

$4.9m annual program spend • This program focuses on the successful reintegration of service members into their communities and aids them in achieving their future goals in life. The reintegration services include veteran-to-veteran peer mentoring and unit reunions that reconnect our service members to those they served with. We also provide education and career support. The apprenticeship program helps veterans find meaningful trades, careers and small business opportunities through short-term vocational education and apprenticeships with trade experts. In fiscal year 2018, the semper fi fund provided transition grants to 1,100 service members and their families.

Integrative Wellness Program

$4.8m annual program spend • This program provides integrative health therapies that focus on providing service members with a holistic approach to improving their body, mind and spirit. We combine numerous, inter-related areas of assistance to focus on suicide prevention and to alleviate ptsd/tbi symptoms, depression and sleep issues. We utilize innovative efforts such as neurofeedback, acupuncture and massage therapy. The program also includes competitive and recreational sports, a horsemanship riding program, therapeutic arts and ongoing education on ptsd and mental health through doc's corner on our website. In fiscal year 2018, the semper fi fund provided integrative wellness grants to 1,300 service members and their families.
