Mission and Work

Protecting the natural diversity and integrity of Alaska's marine ecosystems by working with coastal communities whose well-being depends on healthy oceans.

Fisheries Conservation

$282k annual program spend • AMCC educates, advocates, and works with stakeholders on management strategies that ensure the long-term health of Alaska's fisheries and marine ecosystems. Our focus is on reducing bycatch of species like halibut and protecting marine habitat from the impacts of industrial-scale and harmful fishing practices.

Working Waterfronts

$304k annual program spend • Through research, education, and advocacy AMCC supports fishing opportunities for local, small-scale fishermen. Our projects address policies, market opportunities, and the aging of Alaska's fishing fleet, and support for new fishermen through the Alaska Young Fishermen's Network.

Catch 49

$133k annual program spend • AMCC serves Alaska fishermen and consumers by bringing seafood caught by local, small-boat environmentally minded fishermen to residents in Alaska. This program helps increase the value of fisheries for local fishermen while providing access for consumers to a healthy local food all while strengthening local food systems.
